Pig transporter in accident
A crashed pig transport on the motorway near Aarhus caused chaos and congestion in the busy morning traffic on Monday. According to Animal Protection Denmark, this is the sixth time this year that a pig transport has broken down on Danish roads. The organisation is now calling for the authorities to map the number of accidents involving animal transport and analyse the causes in more detail. “We must do more to prevent accidents that have major animal welfare and human consequences. Therefore, both the industry and the authorities should focus on the many accidents involving pig transport vehicles and systematically collect data on the incidents, says veterinarian at Animal Protection Ditte Erichsen in a press release. Surviving pigs were captured and placed on another transport vehicle. /ritzau/
