President Zelensky thanks Denmark for its planes and support

In connection with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to Denmark, Queen Margrethe presented the president with a special and personal gift – a painting of “The Tree of Life”, the Royal Family said in a post on Instagram. The painting was painted by the Queen herself in the 1990s at the Queen’s summer residence in southern Aarhus, Marselisborg Palace. On Monday, Queen Margrethe and the Crown Prince couple hosted a lunch on the occasion of President Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska´s visit.
Zelensky’s visit to Denmark began Sunday when he landed at Skrydstrup Air Base in Southern Jutland. Together with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, it was announced that Denmark is to donate 19 F-16 warplanes to Ukraine, with the Netherlands also donating fighter jets.
On Monday, the Ukrainian president visited the Danish Parliament, where he warmly thanked Denmark for the donation and support in connection with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “I thank Denmark for helping Ukraine become invincible,” he said in a speech in the Landsting chamber. After the official visit to Denmark on Monday, Zelensky travelled to Greece, for meetings with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, according to Reuters. /ritzau/
