Prime Minister calls EP elections on June 9, 2024
Elections to the European Parliament will be held on Sunday 9 June next year, Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced Thursday at a press conference at Christiansborg. “The Danes are going to the polls. Of course, this is not a general election. But we are going to European elections. We have decided that this will be held on Sunday 9 June next year,” says Mette Frederiksen. It was announced before the summer recess, that elections to the European Parliament would be held in the days from 6 to 9 June 2024. Elections to the EP are held every five years. According to EU electoral law, elections in the Member States must be held within a common period of four days and always on the days of the week from Thursday to Sunday. Voting must be over on Sunday at 21 Danish time in all member states. /ritzau/
