Proclamation of King Frederik 10 from Christiansborg

When the Council of State is held at Christiansborg Palace on 14 January, Denmark will have a new monarch and head of state, at the moment when Queen Margrethe II has signed the declaration of her abdication, according to a press release from the Royal Family, announcing the background for the succession. Thus, Crown Prince Frederik will arrive at Christiansborg Palace as Crown Prince on 14 January and leave as King Frederik X. Similarly, Crown Princess Mary will leave as Queen Mary, while Prince Christian will leave as Crown Prince. It has not yet been announced when the Council of State will be held.
