Queen Margrethe‘s last public audience

Before Sunday’s succession takes place, Queen Margrethe had her last official assignment as monarch on Monday morning, arriving for her last public audience at Christiansborg Palace. During her reign, the Queen has held an audience at Christiansborg Palace on a number of Mondays throughout the year. This Monday was the last before she abdicates, passing the throne on to her son Crown Prince Frederik on Sunday January 14th. The 76 people who attended the Queen’s final audience had the opportunity to thank Queen Margrethe for, for example, awarding a royal order or medal, a royal appointment or for the Queen’s participation at an opening or a visit. According to the royal calendar, the Queen has no further official duties following Monday’s public audience, before the succession on Sunday.  /ritzau/
