Royal Lifeguard drops height requirement
Everyone should be able to become part of the Royal Lifeguards irrespective of height. As a result, the Armed Forces are abolishing the special height requirements of the Royal Lifeguards, according to a press release Wednesday morning. “The previous height requirements of the Royal Lifeguards do not make operational sense. Therefore, we are removing them. There should be no special height requirements if not operationally justified, says the head of Army Command, Brigadier Gen. Gunner Arpe Nielsen, in the press release. Until now, the requirements have been that men had to be at least 175 centimetres tall and women 169 centimetres tall to serve. The amended terms will take effect in 2024. /ritzau/
