Royal patronages go on hold in connection with succession

No fewer than 72 Danish patronages are in HM the Queen’s portfolio, while Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary each have in the region of half that number. All of these patronages will be paused when the queen abdicates and the crown prince becomes king, the royal family has announced. “After the succession on January 14, 2024, a decision will be made within a few months on which of the Crown Prince Couple’s and Her Majesty The Queen’s patronages will continue and the distribution thereof. Until then, all patronages and honorary offices previously held by the Crown Prince Couple and Her Majesty The Queen will cease,” it said in a press release.
Equally, Royal Warrant Holders/Purveyors to the Royal Court will be able to continue using their warrant until their 5-year review period lapses or at least until January 14, 2025. There are currently 104 Danish and five non-Danish warrant/purveyors in operation. The future arrangements for royal court purveyors will be considered at a later date.  /ritzau/
