Russia/Germany/Lithuania
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that plans to send a German brigade to Lithuania from 2027 would lead to an escalation of military tensions between Russia and NATO. “The agreement, signed by Germany and Lithuania, includes a German brigade consisting of about 4,800 soldiers,” Zakharova said. The German government announced on Monday that a brigade-sized unit will have been deployed to Lithuania by 2027. “In just three years, by the end of 2027, the brigade will have reached full operational capability,” German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said during a visit to the Baltic Republic. /ritzau/Reuters
