Russia/Ukraine
Russia accuses the United States and Britain of being involved in the Ukrainian attack that hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in the Crimean Peninsula last week. The two Western countries have long supported the “criminal regime” in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a news conference on Wednesday. The attack on Friday was carried out “beyond the slightest doubt” with the help of US and British intelligence agencies, she said. The help came in the form of surveillance, satellites and spy planes, Zakharova said. Russia’s Black Sea Fleet headquarters were severely damaged in Friday’s attack, using both cruise missiles and drones. According to Ukraine, 34 Russian officers were killed. However, no evidence has been provided for it. /ritzau/dpa
