SAS improving passenger figures

SAS continued to increase its passenger numbers in December, flying with 1.6 million passengers – an increase of six percent compared to the same month the previous year. The increase is due to both good progress on the long-haul routes and in Europe. However, the number of domestic passengers declined by 9.5 percent during the same period. Adding to the picture is that SAS’ offered capacity grew by 12 percent measured in seat kilometres, which is calculated by multiplying the total number of seats offered by the distance flown. Aviation analyst and head of equity research at Sydbank, Jacob Pedersen, calls the passenger numbers slightly better than expected. He compares them to Norwegian, which had one percent fewer passengers in December. /ritzau/
