Slovakia Monday accused Russia of interfering in Sunday’s parliamentary elections. The head of one of Russia’s intelligence services, the SVR, is said to have called Slovakia’s large centrist party, the PS, “US proxies”. The statement came a day before the elections and “has cast doubt on the integrity of free and democratic elections in Slovakia”, the Slovak Foreign Ministry said. “We consider such deliberate widespread disinformation to be unacceptable interference by Russia in the electoral process in Slovakia,” the ministry said. At the same time, it calls on the government in Moscow to “stop disinformation activities directed against Slovakia”. Russia’s ambassador has been summoned to an interview at the ministry. Russia denies the accusations. /ritzau/AFP
