SSI: Covid stagnating, whooping cough increasing
In the past week, the number of flu cases has doubled, according to the latest weekly update from the State Serum Institute (SSI) on influenza, COVID-19, RS virus and other respiratory diseases. “There is still a high incidence of infection with respiratory infections in general. If you look down into the individual diseases, influenza has increased a lot,” says Bolette Søborg, Chief Physician and Head of Section at the SSI. On the other hand, if you look at the infection with COVID-19, the development is more stagnant. Here, the infection is still at a high level – but it has stagnated. “Covid has been running at a very high level. So at some point, it will be the case that the people who are to be infected have become infected,” says Bolette Søborg. The infection with the RS virus also seems to have stagnated, she says. “Whooping cough infection however is increasing. It remains high and there are no signs of slowing down. Mycoplasma pneumonia infection remains at a high level. /ritzau/
