Storm warning causes evacuation

Storm Pia probably has such violent gusts of wind with it, that it could be critical for the three most wind-sensitive high-rise buildings in the Bellahøjhus buildings in Brønshøj, Copenhagen. Therefore, the housing association KAB has informed the residents that they will probably have to be evacuated on Thursday afternoon, the company wrote in a press release on Wednesday. Sanne Kjaer, Customer Director at KAB, says in the announcement that according to the company’s technical advisors, the wind level could be critical for the stability of the buildings. “The safety of the residents is paramount to us, and we have therefore warned them that they must be evacuated for safety reasons,” she says. She acknowledges that it is a highly unpleasant and inconvenient situation, especially since it is in the run-up to Christmas. In February, these same high-rise buildings were also evacuated in connection with storm Otto. /ritzau/
