The Swedish government has announced it has approved the construction of two large wind farms in the Kattegat. Together with nuclear power, the projects will double Sweden’s electricity production by 2045, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said, according to SVT. “We gave the green light to a total of about 100 wind turbines in two offshore parks that will contribute fossil-free power to a region that needs this very much,” says Ulf Kristersson. The two wind farms will be built off Varberg and in the Kattegat South. Behind the two projects are the energy companies OX2 and Vattenfall. /ritzau/
