The Svea Hovrätt Court of Appeal in Stockholm Monday upheld a life sentence for Iranian Hamid Noury. Noury is convicted of murder and serious crimes against humanity after mass executions in Iran in 1988. The case against 62-year-old Noury, who was arrested at Arlanda Airport in November 2019, concerns a very large number of executions of prisoners at Gohardasht prison in Tehran. In July 2022, he was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Stockholm City Court. That sentence was upheld Monday. “We have made the assessment that the prosecution’s evidence in key areas is robust and compelling,” Judge Robert Green said. /ritzau/TT/
