Sweden – Volvo
From the beginning of next year, the car manufacturer Volvo will stop producing diesel engines, Volvo has announced in connection with the climate week in New York, according to the Swedish media Teknikens Värld. Teknikens Värld reports that Volvo plans to sell only fully electric cars by 2030 and to be a climate-neutral company by 2040. Volvo CEO Jim Rowan says electric power is the future and superior to internal combustion engines. An electric car is characterised by having an electric system consisting of an electric motor and a high-voltage battery. “They generate less noise, less vibration, lower service costs for our customers and zero emissions,” Rowan says. /ritzau/
