Switzerland – Sweden – Ozempic

In Switzerland, several people have been hospitalised after using products they thought were Novo’s diabetes medication Ozempic, according to Swissmedic, Switzerland’s medicines agency, TV4 reported Thursday. The affected individuals were hospitalised with low blood sugar. One of them had used an insulin pen and not an Ozempic pen as the product purported to be.
According to TV4, Sweden’s Medicines Agency warned Thursday against fraudsters selling fake Ozempic products. They are reportedly promoted on social media and websites posing as online pharmacies. “We have found at least ten Swedish websites that are anonymous, and it is not known who the sellers are,” said Elin Maria Bergsten, an investigator at the Swedish Medicines Agency. The Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, which is behind Ozempic, has increased production to keep up with the huge demand. Ozempic is the company’s best-selling drug. The product contains the semaglutide, which has an appetite suppressant effect. In this way, Ozempic is also effective for weight loss. However, it is intended only for the treatment of diabetes. /ritzau/
