Thailand’s parliament on Tuesday approved 60-year-old real estate mogul Srettha Thavisin as the new prime minister, putting an end to the political impasse that has prevailed since the elections in May. Srettha Thavisin, who entered politics a few months before the elections, heads a coalition government made up of several parties. The Go Forward party, which came out on top in May’s elections, is not part of the coalition. Srettha Thavisin heads the Pheu Thai party. His new coalition holds 314 of the 500 seats in parliament. /ritzau/
