Tunafish back in Denmark

The tuna is back in the Sound after about 55 years of absence. And in huge quantities, according to the Øresund Aquarium in a press release. The aquarium is part of the University of Copenhagen’s Living Museums. Since the beginning of August, large schools of garfish, mackerel and herring have appeared in the Sound. The Atlantic tuna, also known as bluefin tuna, has followed to hunt schools of fish, and since Saturday 12 August, the aquarium’s marine biologists and guides have seen the tuna leap and splash in the water’s surface. The tuna typically weighs between 200-400 kilos, but can weigh up to 700 kilos. Moreover, it can swim up to between 70 and 80 kilometers per hour. /ritzau/
