The Federal Reserve is raising its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to a range of 5.0 to 5.25 percent, according to Reuters. It is the tenth time in a row that the Fed has raised interest rates. However, this could be the last time this time around, according to Jeppe Juul Borre, chief economist at Arbejdernes Landsbank. “The rate hikes are certainly coming to an end, and it is certainly not unlikely that the Fed will pause and give the already realised rate hikes time to finish the work themselves,” he writes in a commentary. In the announcement from the Federal Reserve, the central bank has failed to write that it foresees raising interest rates further. This has otherwise been stated in previous interest rate announcements. /ritzau/
