The destruction of insured properties in Florida after Hurricane Idalia is expected to amount to USD9.36 billion, according to the assessment of the investment bank UBS. The storm has so far turned out to be less extensive than feared. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has said that up to 565,000 people lost power during the storm that hit the Florida coast on Wednesday with wind, rain and large waves. But it seemed to wane dramatically before moving toward neighbouring Georgia, where residents in areas to the south were trapped in their homes due to flooding. /ritzau/Reuters/
