A school shooting in the U.S. state of Iowa on Thursday has left one child dead and at least five people injured, according to Reuters. The shooting took place in the city of Perry at a school that includes both elementary and high schools. The alleged perpetrator is a 17-year-old student at the high school. According to police information, he shot and killed himself after he opened fire on students and staff at the school. The child killed in the shooting was in sixth grade. According to the Des Moines Register, the principal of the school was one of the victims of the shootings that began shortly after 7.30 a.m. Perry is about 60 kms northwest of Des Moines. /ritzau/
