U.S. – Federal Reserve

After an interest rate meeting, the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) has decided to keep interest rates steady at 5.25 to 5.5 percent, signalling that inflation is under control for the time being. Thus, interest rates remain at levels not seen for 22 years. “As expected, the central bank is keeping interest rates stable. This sends a clear signal that we are on the right track to get inflation under control,” says Jeppe Juul Borre, chief economist at Arbejdernes Landsbank. “We expect the central bank to be on target with raising interest rates. Thus, we do not expect any more interest rate hikes from the Fed this time around,” he adds. /ritzau/ FED /
