U.S. – killings
At least 22 people have died after mass shootings in the city of Lewiston in the state of Maine in the United States, according to Robert McCarthy, a local councillor, in an interview with CNN. Between 50 and 60 people have been injured in connection with the incidents. However, it is unclear how many people were wounded by gunfire, police sources told CNN. On Thursday morning Danish time, police identified a 40-year-old, who is still at large and described as “armed and dangerous”. A manhunt is therefore ongoing, according to Reuters.
According to the local newspaper Sun Journal, the entire area around Lewiston is currently under lockdown. Local Sheriff Eric Samson confirmed the death toll to the newspaper. He further states that three separate incidents have taken place and that the death toll may rise. Police released a picture earlier in the night of an alleged attacker with a firearm wearing black and brown clothing. /Ritzau/
