There are no immediate plans to send British troops to Ukraine to train Ukrainians, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak told Reuters Sunday. Sunak is backing down after Defence Secretary Grant Shapps expressed a desire to train Ukrainians in Ukraine in an interview with the Sunday Telegraph newspaper. “What the defence minister said was that it may well be possible for us one day to do some of the training in Ukraine,” Sunak said. “But it’s for the longer term. Not here and now. There are no British soldiers being sent to fight in the current conflict. Ukraine’s allies have so far avoided a formal military presence in Ukraine.
