Ukrainian forces shot down 18 missiles of various types that Russia fired at Ukraine overnight Tuesday in a large-scale attack, according to Ukraine’s Army Chief Valeriy Zaluzhnyi. Among the downed rockets are six hypersonic missiles capable of moving at five times the speed of sound, the Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov told AFP. “Another incredible success for the Ukrainian Air Force,” he wrote on Twitter. The newly developed hypersonic rockets are known as Kinzhal. President Putin has claimed on previous occasions that they are capable of breaking through any air defence. /ritzau/AFP/
