Russia carried out air strikes overnight Thursday on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, according to Ukrainian officials. Military commanders say the city’s air defences destroyed all drones used in the three-hour attack. The overnight attack is the latest of 12 attacks on the Ukrainian capital in May. Serhiy Popko, who heads the city’s military administration, said on the messaging service Telegram that Russia was “again attacking Kyiv from the air”. “The attack was huge,.. The enemy continues to use attack tactics in several waves at intervals between groups of attacking drones,” Popko said. He added that “all registered targets moving towards Kyiv were destroyed” by Ukrainian air defences. /ritzau/AFP/
