Ukraine
Ukraine’s military has asked for an additional 450,000 to 500,000 personnel to be mobilised for the country’s army, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Tuesday at a news conference. He added that no final decision has been made on the issue. The government and military leaders will now discuss “this very sensitive issue of mobilisation” and then the issue will be discussed in Parliament. He added that a mobilisation of such a size also requires additional funding.
Asked by British broadcasters BBC whether Ukraine is losing the war against Russia, Zelenskiy replied briefly. “No.” He added that he is confident that both the United States and Europe will continue to support Ukraine. Recently, there have been delays in approving large billion-euro packages for Ukraine in both the EU and the US. “We are working very hard on this, and I am sure that the United States will not betray us,” he said. /ritzau/
