One of the largest strikes in the US healthcare sector ever began Wednesday morning local time, AFP reported. More than 75,000 employees from the Kaiser Permanente health organization have started a three-day strike. The strike began in the state of Virginia and the District of Columbia. It is expected to spread to the west coast later in the day. Kaiser Permanente is one of America’s largest healthcare organizations. It operates 39 hospitals, over 600 medical clinics and employs over 200,000 people, according to its website. An umbrella organization representing Kaiser Permanent’s employees’ local unions announced last month that the strike is “the largest strike by health care workers in U.S. history.” /ritzau/
