World record – ran for 72 hours
While the World Cup athletics is going on in Budapest, a world record has been set in Denmark. Extreme runner Stine Rex from Aalborg ran almost 506 kilometres over the weekend in 72 hours. She has thus broken the unofficial world record for women in three-day running. She broke the record already on Sunday morning at 7 o’clock, when she had run 486 kilometres in 69 hours. After that, her goal was to reach 500 kilometres. “It’s been absolutely amazing. I am happy and proud that we succeeded,” said Stine Rex time ran out at 10 am. Rex ran 350 times around the Aabybro lake in North Jutland. Along the way, children in particular followed her along the route. Several of her followers were worried that she would give up during Saturday night when rain poured down on North Jutland. /ritzau/
