Yemen – missile

A Greek-owned cargo ship flying the Maltese flag has been hit by a missile in the Red Sea, the British security firm Ambrey said on Tuesday, according to Reuters. “There were no casualties, only material damage,” an unnamed Greek source told Reuters. A source said the ship had no cargo when it was hit. It was on its way from Vietnam to Israel with a crew of 24, Reuters reported.
Ambrey reports that the stricken ship was heading north and was about 76 nautical miles northwest of the Yemeni port city of Salif. The British military’s Maritime Trade Organization (UKMTO) also reports an incident in the area, 100 nautical miles northwest of Salif. The ship changed course and headed towards a port after the incident, according to AFP.
A cargo ship was also hit by a missile on Monday in the Gulf of Aden off the Yemeni coastal city of Aden. Yemen’s Houthi movement claimed responsibility for that attack on Monday night. /ritzau/
