Yemen-Red Sea attack

A U.S. warship and several civilian ships appeared to have come under attack in the Red Sea on Sunday, the Pentagon said in a statement, according to AP and Sky News. “We are aware of reports of attacks against the USS Carney and commercial vessels in the Red Sea and will provide information when it becomes available,” the Pentagon said. Shortly before, the British military announced that there had been a suspected drone attack against a ship in the Red Sea. At the same time, the Houthi movement in Yemen announces that it had attacked two Israeli ships. One attack was said to have been carried out with a missile and another with a drone, the movement said. Sunday’s was one of several attacks that have taken place in the waters between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula since the war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement broke out on October 7. /ritzau/
