Business calls for more regulatory cuts
Danish business organizations have commended government and municipal efforts to eliminate or simplify public sector regulations, as presented by Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen and the Chairman of the Local Government Association (KL), Martin Damm. The initial step includes 56 specific regulations set to be simplified or abolished, potentially saving municipalities a significant amount in the triple-digit millions. The Social Democrats, the Liberals, and the Moderates have agreed to cut 3 billion kroner in administrative costs by 2030, reallocating these funds to improve pay and working conditions. However, business leaders, including those from Dansk Industri (DI) and SMVDanmark, are urging an accelerated pace and tougher measures to reduce administrative burdens, while advocating for similar actions in the private sector with a proposed 25% reduction goal. DI estimates that administrative costs for small and mid-sized businesses amount to 30 billion kroner annually, a figure that is continually rising.
