Royal couple to visit Germany and minorities

King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark are set to continue their inaugural visits to neighboring countries by traveling to Germany in October, following state visits to Sweden and Norway. Their journey includes the capital, Berlin, and the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein on October 21 and 22. The visit aims to emphasize the strong Danish-German cooperation in trade, green transition, and security policy. The accession visit, a step below state visits, adheres to the tradition of one state visit per country during a monarch’s reign. The royal couple will participate in the 25-year jubilee of the Nordic embassies complex in Berlin, which was inaugurated by Queen Margrethe in 1999. The celebration will also see attendance from the Swedish and Norwegian royal families, as well as the presidents of Finland and Iceland. Afterward, the Danish couple will visit the Danish minority in Schleswig-Holstein, highlighting bonds and supporting cross-border collaborations, particularly in ecological transition.
