Rasmus Jarlov to Exit Parliament After Next Election

Rasmus Jarlov, a Conservative Party member and former minister, has announced he will not seek re-election in the next Danish parliamentary elections. Jarlov wants to explore the world beyond politics, having spent many years within the halls of Christiansborg. His announcement coincides with the opening of the new parliamentary session, featuring the prime minister’s opening address. Jarlov, having served in Parliament since 2010 with a break, was business minister from 2018 to 2019. While showing support for the new Conservative leader Mona Juul, he does not rule out a future political return after at least one electoral term. Currently, he owns the tourist company Hamlet Tours. Mona Juul expressed she will miss Jarlov’s sharpness and courage in Parliament.
