King inaugurates Børsen reconstruction
King Frederik of Denmark initiated the rebuilding of the Børsen, a 400-year-old building, pushing a 60-kilogram cornerstone into the structure’s fire-damaged section. The restoration, marked by the King’s involvement, has started its vision and materials phase. Lars Daugaard Jepsen from Dansk Erhverv, the building owner, shared that the exterior will be restored to its original look, while the interior plans, reflecting the building’s eight historical alterations, are still being developed. Sourcing includes 800 to 1000 trees from around the Baltic Sea, resembling those used from Sweden’s Gotland island originally. The first phase is expected to finish in four to five months, followed by phase two, focusing on the damaged parts. Completion of all 42 phases remains unscheduled, but Dansk Erhverv aims to provide a budget and timeline before the new year.
