Pager explosions injure 2750 in Lebanon

Pager devices used for communication, predominantly by members of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, exploded and injured 2750 people including nine fatalities as per Lebanon’s health ministry reports by Reuters. The cause of the explosions, which resulted in facial, hand and abdominal injuries, remains unclear. Hezbollah confirmed their pagers exploded and alleged Israel’s involvement, threatening retaliation. The Israel Defense Forces have not commented on the incident. The Hezbollah leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was unhurt. Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was among the injured. Detonations occurred across Lebanon and affected at least 14 people in neighboring Syria. These incidents followed the worsening of tensions after attacks along the Lebanese-Israeli border post an escalatory decision by Israel’s Prime Minister to extend war efforts in Gaza.
