August unemployment stable

Unemployment rates in Denmark were unchanged in August, with seasonally adjusted data showing 87,000 people on benefits—2.9% of the workforce. The job market remains strong, with levels of unemployment low and employment having grown nearly 20,000 in 2024, reaching a new high with over 3 million wage earners. Job listings in August were the sixth highest in 21 years. Long-term unemployment is also low, comparable to pre-financial crisis levels. Chief economists predict continued strong employment, driven by a wave of retirements among skilled workers and fewer new trainees entering the workforce.
