SF seeks quick action on Green Deal, aid for fjords

SF fears water environments might decline due to slow agricultural land withdrawal and tables a four billion kroner emergency package for distressed fjords in upcoming tripartite talks. Their plan includes speeding up peatland retirement, afforestation, reducing fertilizer use, tree planting near watercourses, and protective buffer zones. SF is also pushing for quicker deployment of eight billion kroner from the green land fund and money for municipalities. Notably, 400 million kroner are proposed to aid municipalities in the green tripartite agreement’s execution. The government has not earmarked funds for this in the budget, despite the tripartite agreement’s emphasis on municipal roles in land withdrawal, raising concerns from SF’s Signe Munk about insufficient support for such a significant task.
