Ex-employees buy The Body Shop’s nordic rights

Four former employees have acquired the rights to operate The Body Shop in Denmark and Sweden, following the company’s bankruptcy earlier this year in Denmark, which led to the closure of 15 stores. This was partly due to issues that emerged in England, where investment company Auréa Group saved 113 British stores from bankruptcy. The new ownership group, including Mark Hermann, Cecilia Daun, Alexis Tchikladzé, and Nina Juul, who have all held leadership positions at The Body Shop, aim to safeguard the future of the company with a business model focused on digital development. Their immediate priority is to support privately owned franchise stores that continued operating despite the bankruptcy. Currently, over 20 franchise stores exist. The Body Shop was founded in 1976 in Brighton, England, bought by L’Oréal Group in 2006 for £652 million, and later sold to Natura & Co in 2017. In November 2023, Aurelius, a European investment firm, acquired the company.
