Søren Pape’s funeral at Viborg Cathedral

Søren Pape Poulsen’s funeral is scheduled at Viborg Cathedral on Saturday, March 9th at 11 am, as announced by the Conservative Party. The former mayor of Viborg and conservative leader passed away at 52 years old following a brain hemorrhage during a party executive meeting. Despite being rushed to Odense University Hospital, he could not be saved and died on Saturday at 13:13. Condolences have poured in, with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen describing him as a cheerful and decent person. Political spokesperson Mette Abildgaard, who called emergency services, expressed the party’s shock and intention to honor Pape’s memory. Viborg city hall flew flags at half-mast, and Viborg FF held a minute of applause in memory before a match. A memorial has been set up at the hotel where Pape collapsed, and a tribute page is available on the Conservative Party’s website.
