Copenhagen’s Royal Arena put up for sale

The Royal Arena in Ørestad, Copenhagen, is for sale, decided by owners Københavns Kommune and Realdania, who each own half. Inaugurated in January 2017, it wasn’t the intent of the original builders to own it forever. The Lord Mayor states that its success no longer depends on their ownership, and the proceeds can benefit other areas. The venue’s operation won’t be impacted by the sale, with Danish Venue Enterprise, part of Live Nation, having a lease until 2046. The arena, which cost 1.4 billion DKK to build, has hosted major events like european championships in swimming, ice hockey world championships, and concerts by Metallica and Elton John. It was designed by 3XN and HKS.
