EU sues Denmark over inland waterway rules

The European Commission is taking legal action against Denmark and Spain for failing to implement rules regarding qualifications for navigation on inland waterways, as reported by Reuters. It has the authority to bring cases before the European Court of Justice if a member state does not transpose EU directives into national law. On Thursday, the Commission initiated several cases against different member states, including Denmark, Spain, Poland, Portugal, and Cyprus, for not implementing EU directives related to the taxation of large businesses. Danish news agency Ritzau is seeking comment from the relevant ministry regarding the case.
