Exposed abuse at Bøgholt care home

Sixteen former residents reported being sexually abused by staff at Bøgholt care home in Viby J during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, as described in the TV 2 documentary ‘Bøgholt’s Abused Children’. Seven educators faced accusations, with one convicted in 1988 for sexual crimes involving minors. Previous reports of abuse at places like Godhavn Boys’ Home led to a state investigation and a 2019 apology from the Prime Minister. Social Minister Sophie Hæstorp Andersen indicated no further investigations are planned since the state’s supervision ended in 1976. Bøgholt ceased operations in 2014 and now serves as a social education center for children.
