Anne Heeager new Danish Social Liberal Party chair

Anne Heeager was elected as the new chairperson of The Danish Social Liberal Party at their meeting in Nyborg, receiving 221 of 295 votes, with Thomas Elkjær receiving 68. Jan Willumsen became vice-chair unopposed. The role of chairperson is distinct from the party’s political leader and involves leading the party’s national association, main board, and executive committee. Heeager is known for being result-oriented and focuses on collaboration, having experience from Skanderborg’s city council and the party’s main board and executive committee. The party has faced turmoil recently, and Heeager succeeds Mikkel Irminger Sarbo, who resigned amid harassment accusations. Internal debates on the party’s structure persist, but Heeager supports the current dual structure, which balances Christianborg-focused leadership and organizational attention.
