Meal plan hinders women’s relocation from center

The relocation of single women from deportation center Kærshovedgård to Avnstrup, aimed to protect them from sexual harassment, is delayed by a dispute over a separate meal plan, according to Frihedsbrevet. Red Cross, which manages Avnstrup, rejected the special meal proposal from the immigration authority, fearing differentiation of resident treatment. Consequently, an agency formed a workgroup to investigate meal arrangement possibilities. No incidents of sexual harassment were reported between March and July. Kærshovedgård, established in 2016 for rejected asylum seekers and others, has faced criticism and scrutiny, with 17 out of 18 sexual violation reports leading to police cases.
