Kids enjoy more nature now than 5 years Ago

The Center for Children and Nature’s survey reveals children are happier and more frequently outdoors compared to five years ago, with a 10-15 percentage point increase in regular nature engagements. Out of 4,593 kids aged 1-15 surveyed, 83% feel very happy outside, and 94% enjoy being outdoors. Kids aged 1-15 spend around two hours and 43 minutes outside on weekdays, and three hours and 24 minutes on weekends, with outdoor transport being a significant component. The major barriers are time constraints and lack of inspiration for nature activities. Education settings present opportunities for increased nature interaction. Leader of The Center for Children and Nature Søren Præstholm suggests schools and communities should collaborate to fulfill children’s needs for natural experiences.
